I attended Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts, where I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in forensic psychology and philosophy. I later received a master’s degree in Crime and Justice Studies from Suffolk University in Boston. After relocating to Virginia, I completed my Juris Doctorate at George Mason University School of Law. As a third-year law student, I gained practical experience representing indigent clients in General District Court proceedings, while interning at the Fredericksburg Public Defender’s Office.
My professional career over the past several years includes diverse roles within the criminal justice system. I worked as a Magistrate in the Fifteenth Judicial District for three years, where I gained in-depth knowledge of Virginia Criminal Code and probable cause requirements. I went on to attend the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy as a Deputy Sheriff for Spotsylvania County where I achieved the Top Academic Achievement Award. After three years as a patrol Deputy, I was promoted to Detective in the Child Victims Unit. Prior to joining Spencer, Meyer and Koch, PLC, I was the Director of Victim Witness Services for Fredericksburg City. I worked closely with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and assisted clients through the court process. Through my years working here, I have close ties within this community, in the courts and criminal justice system.
